Baroques Boutiques - Steve - 15-11-2015

I've decided to make a webcomic as a prequel to something I'm working on. I've included the first chapter here.

I am highly influenced by manga (Japanese comics), so I made this comic in the style of 4koma (four panel) comics. I also decided to make it black and white, but I've included a colored version as well just in case anyone is color blind.

Issue #1 (Color) | Issue #1 (B&W) | Recommended Song
Issue #2 (Color) | Issue #2 (B&W) | Recommended Song
Issue #3 (Color)* | Recommended Song
Issue #4 (Color)** | Recommended Song
Issue #5 (Color) | Issue #5 (B&W) | Recommended Song
Issue #6 (Color) | Issue #6 (B&W) | Recommended Song
Issue #7 (Color) | Issue #7 (B&W) | Recommended Song

*Issue 3 is color-only because color is important to my artistic message
**Issue 4 is color-only because color is important to my artistic message

Cobalt?

Your sprite-work is absolutely gorgeous, no doubt, but your speech bubbles are very disconcerting. They don't share the same quality of detail as the rest of the comic. The font suffers from the same problem.

I'm not really a fan of comics using emoticons in the speech bubbles. Unlike straight-up text where you can't convey emotions as easily (And briefly) you're using a visual medium.
Granted, your character lacks standard facial features so that's more difficult but you could use either body language or have a speech-bubble with an image to convey its bemusement.

Quality new sprite comic. Will be following closely.

Cobalt? I don't know who that is.
I will take the rest into consideration. I actually drew the speech bubbles my hand, and the font I chose was the one I thought would most fit the style. It's called Comic Sans MS, it means "Comedy without Microsoft," and Baroque runs GNU/Linux. I guess that wasn't that obvious, in retrospect. I'll try better for the next issue, though!
