SNES & GBA color picker - GamerH2 - 07-01-2017

(Updated in 13/12/2017)
Yet another new link (EXE and Source Code):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fRD2oRIgvTmQewFFs1-JA4l9DA7U24OJ/view?usp=sharing

Requirements:
WinRar or 7-zip, to extract the file.

How to use?:
Easy. Just use the trackbars and write some number in the edit box (0-31) to select the color.
24-bit to 16-bit color conversion is pretty easy actually. Just do (R/8) for red, (G/8) for green and (B/8) for blue, should always be integer.

And some MegaMan X sprites.

Screenshots? An explanation of the program? What it's meant to do? Features and known bugs? Github?

This could be a virus for all anyone knows. No way I'm installing it.

You use the trackbars to set the red, green and blue colors, and then the square will generate the color.
You press print screen to catch it or you just read RGB color generated in the top right corner.

Why is this program useful, and what is the main purpose? You keep explaining how it works - but not what it's meant to be used for.

Using it for colours in an SNES - style game, of course. Not everyone has the patience to study SNES colour limitations, so this program is useful for those kinds of projects.
That's what I can get from the info given.

unless you're coding in colour values, wouldn't just having an image of the full palette be more useful?

Tried out this program for myself, but I seem to have encountered a bug: No matter what I set the sliders to, the black square that's just below the "Random Color" button doesn't show the color and just stays black. Huh Little help?

RE: SNES & GBA color picker - N-Mario - 05-12-2017

Well.... This is... Certainly interesting..... At least you tried, and I welcome any MMF/CT Fusion coders. Smile
I suppose the reason for this existing is to get accurate colors for sprites that have this color limit.

Doesn't this also apply to some CPS1/CPS2 games, as they may also have this color limitation? I swear there was some street fighter games that I've had experienced had the max value of 248,248,248 for their White.

Anyway, The first screen shot of your tool looked too simple. Not that it was a good, or a bad thing. I was just making a noticeable point. The one I downloaded now as red, green, and blue color bars and hex values for whatever reason.

The window and font sizes seem too small. Maybe have a larger version, or an option to increase the window size so ppl wouldn't have to squint on HD monitors?

RE: SNES & GBA color picker - N-Mario - 14-12-2017

Did you make a mistake somewhere, or are these new values? It appears that in the new one, when you set the bars all the way to the right, they go back to 0. The highest number is now 30 something?

Another thing I noticed. If you are dragging the red bar, then move the mouse down, you instantly start moving the green bar, then the blue bar. This was in your earlier version too.

RE: SNES & GBA color picker - GamerH2 - 25-12-2017

Yes it was a mistake. Already fixed it.

RE: SNES & GBA color picker - N-Mario - 09-01-2018

You can STILL click and hold one color bar, move the mouse down to another color bar to move that color bar there without releasing the mouse button.

Max color value still seems to be 31. Is this intended?
I still prefer the old one TBH (that shows 248 & hex valuess). Glad I made backups.
