Controller support is technically already in the game, although we haven't tested it yet I don't think. It's definitely intended to be in the final release.

Well, I don't know anything about Unity 2D, And I don't have any previous pixel work, but maybe you guys could mentor me, by the way, I have done pixel art in Microsoft Paint. If you're not looking for newbies for this project, I understand.

We are not. We have had enough problems with people who seemingly have no experience before.

If you want to learn more about spriting in Mega Man style, look at other resources, such as those on Spriter's Resource, and study how they achieved the style - then, try to recreate this, and iteratively improve your work until you have something to show for yourself.

Good luck with your pixel art, but we are not a project aiming to teach newcomers.

I feel like the original design is too basic, and the only reason it's even iconic is because of the memes. To me it looks like a generic MM body with some watermelon slices glued on, but that's just me.

Putting aside the memery, which one do you prefer?

Meme's aside, there is something to be said for the pure simplicity in the old design - the old Melon Man actually gets the point across better, one glance at him and you get it, "He's a Melon based Robot, as weird as that is.", whereas the newer one looks like a basic enemy out of Mega Man 8 if anything, it doesn't really look much like a Robot Master anymore. Maybe it's the face.

Also: Melon Man probably took off because the design was fine in the first place?

Not that my opinion really matters at this point, but I kind of think a slight combination of the two would work. Namely, use the simpler design on the right, but give it stripes like the one on the left, even if just on the limbs or something.

Since the initial announcement, Spook/Fright Man has been changed into Puppet Man, Blaze Man has been changed into Phoenix Man, Morph Man has been changed into Toxic Man, Fossil Man has been changed into Mimic Woman, and Angler Man's gender was swapped. All of these changes spare Angler's happened very quickly after announcement, while Angler Woman's change was relatively recent.
