Thanks for reviewing my level awd42!

A lot of the issues of the level stemmed from three places: A sudden increase in real life workload, GM crashing on me several times, and inexperience with the engine.

There were going to be three main paths through the level, not just two, and the overall length of the stage trimmed down by 10-15 screens. The level was intended to be 30-40ish screens long per path (excluding checkpoints), but due to the aforementioned three problems, one of the paths got merged into the other two and I lacked the time to prune the level. So, I ended up with a level over 50+ screens long per path.

In the original design, one path would be going through the cave system before leading into the fortress, another being over the trees, and the last being an underwater system.

For my next level in MaGMML2, each path will be 25-35ish screens long, and there will be at least one miniboss and boss fight.

Not sure why I didn't do this earlier, but with the second contest going on I'd figure now would be a good time to show this off. This is a concept sketch of a scrapped boss I had planned for this contest. I never ended up making it, and in fact I barely finished the level at all in time. Maybe I'll use it at some point.

I just linked it because it's way too big to fit on screen in the forum.

Looks like I saw this boss pattern earlier. Does this boss run on the track, too, and after MegaMan?

Two thumbs up.

This looks like a hard but fun boss. I'd like to see it in sprite form in the future. Smile

I had a lot of fun playing this contest game, and the only real issues I had with it was the Quick-Laser Room, I had almost thought there would have been no way for me to beat it.

I thought the final boss of the game was odd, I don't know what that was all about.

It's the canonical connection to the X series.

Yeah I noticed it was that guy, but hopefully he'll have better justice in another fan game. Big Grin

It was pretty amusing though.

Heads up, there seems to be a typo in the beginning cutscene. I've tried to see if anybody else has pointed it out, but I haven't found anything about it thus far.

I downloaded it, and as soon as I open it, it just doesn't let me do anything. The error message reads

Error defining an external function.

Did you make sure the two DLL files are in the same folder?

This problem happens when the game files aren't all saved in the right place together. The .rar file you downloaded should contain the following:

- A "music" folder
- Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest.exe
- supersound.dll

Create a new folder (call it "MaGMML" or whatever you like) and put these three items into that folder. Do not delete or rename anything. Now when you open the .exe file, the game should work normally.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Thank you, my good sir. I'll check it out and see if it works.

EDIT: Eh, I'll try the Google Drive download, see if it works better.

Okay, got it to work. I had to use Winrar instead of Winzip.

[I know, I'm an idiot, but give me a break.]

EDIT: And I found a glitch!
At the bottom of NoLynch's level, if you go to the left or right, you won't fall. Normal, but if you slide to the left wall, haven't tried for the right, you'll slide out of bounds and won't die. You can't pause, and your only choice is to leave the game.

May your metal blades always kill everything ever,
May your Top Spin never randomly run out of energy.
May you never use Spark Shock on something other than a boss.
And may Eddie never give you ammo when you need health.
